Shinsa Fizzle

OUCH!!! I've hurt my back.

No training for me, no grading either. I guess these are the hurdles that you have to face with training.
It just takes time and patience.

Feed your body nutrition and rest. Time will heal and then I can return.

I'm luck that it's just muscular and nothing further. Recovery should be 100%.

I'll take this time to read. OSU.

It's That Time Again

Shinsa training will commence next week. I think this time I will be training on irimi techniques. How appropriate!! I'm looking forward to this, a good opportunity to practice a technique that I believe is the cornerstone of aikido.

Some people go on about shionage but I don't know, I think irimi is much more important.

Anyway, I'll see how I go next week. OSU.

Irimi

How useful is irimi?

The entering technique of aikido has many applications, many of them practical. It's not just a training technique. The combatitive aspects of this move appear in many other martial arts, including kenjutsu.

If you want to be good at aikido, practice irimi. OSU.

Teachers

I wonder what it's like to be a teacher of aikido.

If you are teaching all the time, do you still get to practice? I find if I don't practice I start to lose some of the skills. Even in Shioda's biography he says this. Is teaching enought to retain your skill level or even keep developing?

So many questions. I wonder if I will ever get them answered. OSU.
